This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

DM is home! She's happy to be here though I suspect my hard work starts now as she's very unsure on her feet. It's one thing toddling along a hospital corridor with its vinyl floor, doing the same on carpet is not so easy. Anyway, I've had to call NHS24 this morning to arrange a district nurse to come round to administer the daily dose of heparin. The other day I asked specifically if this were needed and was reassured that DM would now revert to oral medication - so much for asking.
My day will be a round of tea making, supporting walking to the loo and so on. I've moved the Humax recorder to the bedroom TV so tht DM can catch up on her missed programmes.
I hope everyone has a good, peaceful and Happy Mothering Sunday.0 -
Morning everyone
Silver-oldie - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one, and those who are poorly and those looking after a poorly person x
Cloudy and overcast start to the day, and temperature droppsed too. Was very warm and sunny yesterday too, line of washing got dry.
DH enjoying first cuppas of the day whilst watching catchup tv, I'm enjoying a coffee whilst on here, and DS1 still in his pit but with a cuppa.
Dinner last night was HM roasted veg tart, hot bbq chicken wings, scotch eggs, side salad and skinny chips. Today we're having roast chicken and stuffing, roasties, mash, carrots, cauli/broc cheese, swede, peas, yorkshires and gravy.
Today will be a chill day. We went to visit both mum's yesterday but my mum was out with my sister, so we're going back this morning.
Once I've organised the lunch and pack ups I'm chilling for the rest of the day.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks and thanks SILVER-OLDIE. I really hope you get to see your DGS today and your DM has her talking head on.
We had sun earlier but it's now getting gobbled up with clouds. It's forecast to return this afternoon they say. It matters not I don't have plans other than for a lazy day reading or watching tv. Another exciting day at Casa Abuela!!
DS came yesterday afternoon bearing gifts. A day early as he can't make it today. DD is working so it will be a very late visit from her. So a quiet Mother's Day for me! I got a small gammon joint out to cook for my lunch with assorted veg. There will be enough gammon left to feed me for the next few days unless I freeze some sliced up.
The hairdresser arrived as planned yesterday and she had her scissor happy head on! She has cut it a little bit shorter than I like but it will soon grow!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) as always for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. Thinking of our HOLLY and other absent friends. Take care all xxx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Good morning and thanks for starting Silver.
I too hope you see your family today, yiur baking sounds delicious.
It's grey and drizzly here, don't know the forecast
We wnt to Dgs's party yesterday and the guest of honour was decidedly tearful and fed up because he was missing his daytime sleep, but it was good to catch up with Dd's"in laws" haven't seen them for a while, and members of our own family.
I won't see the family today, because saw them yesterday, but they've given me gifts and cards.
We thought, well DH thought, that we would go over to the caravan and hitch up so he could drive about a bit to check that all is well with the van.
We really should get outside today and tidy up, and the ironing is building up as well.
Hey ho it'll all get done
Hope your Mum will be all right Gers, it'll be strange for her.
Thoughts to the poorly people and those struggling with life.
Take care folks0 -
Morning
SO I will keep everything crossed that you get to see your lovely grandson.
AOD Hope you are feeling more yourself today
OL Poor dogs :rotfl: You will wreck their street cred
Seems a lot colder today yesterday it felt like summer in the garden once the fog had gone  The sun is out though so hopefully will warm up soon
Did all the downstairs yesterday so could just do with tackling the bathrooms today but its not urgent. Have a work thing today its a training session on the new software so really need to attend even though I'm thinking of dropping it. How rude working on a Sunday!
Have rung mum ....she didn't want to go out today as she hates the thought of it being too busy so we are sticking to our usual weekday. She did seem to like her Uncle Joes so for once i may have got a pressy right ...we will see ....the test will be whether she gives it back to me next time I see her which is the usual routine.
Yesterdays freezer lucky dip was actually a lovely fish pie so had that with peas. Today i found some beef slices so am going to make some sloppy joes tonight and maybe have some chips.
Hope you all have a lovely Sunday0 -
Morning all
Come on own up, who's pinched my sunshine ?It's back to grey weather here
.
I have no plans for today other than cooking Sunday lunch, which is roast chicken etc. Don't know if Dad will come over, he will ring later if he's not coming. DD will pop over at some point too.
SilverOldie I hope your DS and DGS arrive to help tuck in to all your bakes. If not I shall be available to help you out
Gers I'm glad your DM is back home.
I hope everyone has a lovely day.
Right, I'm now going to prep the pots and veg and then chill for the rest of the day. Might even have a glass of something with my lunch.
Take care all

Morning all
Nanny I think I have your sunshinelovely day here but with a bit of a breeze washing should dry well today.
Off to my lovely dd's today and bless her she is cooking roast pork for mothers day (she is a veggi so well out of her comfort zone )
OH will take out an under counter freezer for her as they have bought a freestanding big fridge freezer, you cant seem to get anything much in those little ones.
We went out for a lovely long walk yesterday 5 miles so pup was shattered last night as she does much more walking than us what with chasing things and sniffing every bit of grass etc :rotfl:
Will pop and see mum later although she is off to my sisters for lunch but will pop in with card and flowers.
Gers hope mum settles in ok and can manage getting about xx
SO I am keeping everything crossed that your ds and dgs visit today xx
Candy thinking of you xx

Morning all,
It's a lovely sunny day here so we enjoyed our dogwalking this morning.DSons are still away on the stag do so a very quiet Mothers Day for me, but the house is still very tidy.... until the return tomorrow night :rotfl:
SO fingers crossed xx
We had friends round last night - did tapas bits for starters, and some nice kebabs from the butchers with wedges and garlic mushrooms,no dessert we were too full and I even forgot to open the after dinner choc mints.
Plans today are to visit a nearby garden centre,I want to look at roses, and DH wants some sealant for the shower so he can do it before DSons get back.
Gers glad Mum is home.
Hope you all have a nice day whatever you are up to xxx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
