Self employed insurance??

Hi everyone, I never got much help from a previous thread, so hopefully I can try again and get some advice from you all.

I’m a Self employed Personal trainer, Pilates and yoga teacher, single employee.
I want to offer other services like dog sitting, pet sitting and walking, house sitting etc.

I can find a sports insurer that offers these other multi trades under one policy.
Could I get just general business insurance... rather than personal trainer insurance?

I would personally go with a specialist insurance cover. I suspect your biggest risk is that a customer claims they were injured and make a personal injury claim.
A few years ago a mountain bike leader was sued by somebody who crashed into a tree because he claimed he wasn't told to brake or some such nonsense. Because common sense and personal responsibility appear to be in short supply in today's world you need to have cover for the litigious in society.

Echo the advice above, you would need to compare costs vs cover of course but you may be better with a separate specialist insurer for each type of business - this broker specialises in the Pet Service industry:- https://www.cliverton.co.uk/contact-us/

Sweet, thank you for your advice. I was thinking I might need one for PT insurance, and yes you’re right it’s if someone hurts themselves then blames me. And one for pet sitting and walking.

I just wanted to find out if this was maybe silly and I could get Business insurance which would cover all the trades I wanted to do.

I’m reluctant to do too many quotes before I know what I’m searching for, as the moment you give your details companies hound you

Avoid this by doing dummy quotes!

That doesn't work anymore. The insurers check the details you supply are genuine and you get a very expensive quote with a fake name and address. I know, I've tried.

It depends what a business insurance policy is covering for self-employed personnel. If we talk about self-employed insurance, then it usually includes the public liability insurance in the case of your property loss or injury, and Professional indemnity insurance that is responsible for clients' loss (financial loss) occurred due to your fault or bad advice. However, it is better to read all documents properly before taking this policy.

My friend runs a software house where mostly worked in done by him and don't have any permanent employee that's why he took key person insurance from here mykeymaninsurance.com to ensure his own loss in the case of any disability or loss because he is the only key income generator of business. Though key man insurance is little expensive but offers many benefits. On the other hand, if you go with business insurance, then you would also have to get health and vehicle insurance additionally.
