Scheduled Tasks Windows XP Don’t Run

Does anyone know if there is a way to put in a scheduled task so that it will run at the selected time or if the computer is turned off at that time will run the next time the computer is turned on. i.e
I have a scheduled program set to run once a week at 00:00 on Fridays and I thought it must be working ok but I just noticed that it is logged as never having run. This appears to be because my computer is always turned off at midnight on Fridays. I checked this by setting up a schedule to run it in a couple of minutes time and waited for that time and it ran fine. I then set it up in the same way again but turned my computer off before it could run. Waited till the time had passed and when I turned my computer on again it did not run.

Thanks

The Task Scheduler service must be running and properly configured to run tasks. If you had stopped scheduled tasks manually from the Scheduled Tasks window, the service stops and does not initialize the next time you start the computer. If the service is not configured to log on as the local system account, it may not start.

Try this, but not sure if it'll solve your problem....

To check the settings for the service: 1.Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Administrative Tools.2.Click Computer Management.3.Expand Services and Applications, and then click Services.4.Right-click the Task Scheduler service, and then click Properties.5.On the General tab, make sure that the startup type is set to automatic, and that the service status is Started. If the service is not running, click Start.6.On the Log On tab, make sure that the local system account is selected, and that the Allow service to interact with desktop check box has a check mark. 7.Click OK, and then quit Computer Management.
 Can anyone explain to me how to put a signature here?

    My tuppence worth....

A version of windows had trouble with scheduler gui (did not work) to make it work you had to use the dos AT command (type AT ? in a dos box for help)

When I had to do a task at a certain time I ended up using EZ Macros & EZ Scheduler http://www.americansys.com/ezmacros.htm

If I have this correct there will be 1 command file xxx.cmd placed in
    c:\Documents and Settings\Logon_name\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\

    ********************************
The xxx.cmd file contains two entries :

    first entry: run file now

Second entry: Start the scheduled file to run at midnight.
