Two week gap between residences

I'm selling my house and moving into a rental property. The sale is due to complete mid-April, but the place I'm planning to rent isn't available until the beginning of May. During the intervening two weeks I'm planning to put most of my stuff in storage and couch surf with friends and family.
My question is, what to do about my "official" residential address? I'm worried that having no fixed address may hurt my credit rating. Also I'm not sure what to do about redirecting post. I'm sure others have been in a similar situation, so any advice would be appreciated.

Have you exchanged yet? If not can you move the completion date closer to the date you moving to the rented place?0

Royal Mail Post Restante (google it) will arrange for your mail to be held at a post office of your choosing.
Credit rating: they aren't that precise. When you move to your new place just say that you lived there two weeks earlier, or your old place two weeks later. They get your address details from the electoral roll which is updated yearly I think. Or from you when you tell them you've moved.

Thanks. Never heard of Poste Restante before. Looks useful, but can I get my post automatically redirected to this, using the Post Office redirection service?0

Have you Exchanged Contracts yet?If not, this date is meaningless. Either you, or the buyer, or their lender, can (probably will) change it.
but the place I'm planning to rent isn't available until the beginning of May.
Then unless you've Exchanged Contracts already, change the Completion date to endof April!

That's another way to go if you want

Providing you've Exchange it should not matter for 2 weeks.

Or get very friendly with your new landlord and/or the current tenants and use that address. They can keep your mail for 2 weeks.......... if you trust them.0 -

Theres no such thing as a post office redirection service.
Its Royal mail.
No mail cannot be redirected from there unless you actually lived in the post office.

I want to redirect my mail *to* the post office, from my old address....royal-mail-mail-collect-application-form-May-2018.pdf
Mail Collect won't work for me, because I won't have an address. Poste Restante looks like it would do the job, as long as it's something I can redirect to.0
