4 hour wash cycle?

OH put a wash on today at about 3pm - almost 4 hours later its still washing the same load
I have noticed the wash cycle seems to last for ages though to be fair, I usually put the machine on before i go to work or bed so I haven't taken much notice & haven't timed it before.
It's a Servis machine, less than a year old, I guess it must be one of these superdooper, moneysaving, supereconomical, energy efficient contraptions:money:
But 4 hours for 1 wash!
surely that can't be normal?

That doesn't sound normal to me either but I can't give you any technical information other than the cheapest washing machines I have bought have nerver taken 4 HOURS! Your instruction manual should tell you how long each cycle will take so you could take a look and see what it says. If my washing machine took 4 HOURS I would rip my hair out in very large clumps! :rotfl:0

Hi - first post very excited!! - my Hotpoint machine less than 1 yr old did this on some cycles - it wasn't draining correctly due to a blockage and so the machine kept rinsing over and over - put it on one morning before work and it was still going when I got home!!0

It may well be a fault but, if it completes the cycle as usual, the most likely it isn't.
The simple answer is, modern wash times have increased dramatically sue to the use of less water to save on water and energy heating it but, the trade off is, that they have to wash for a lot longer than they used to.
The long answer is just that, very long, just like a lot of wash times these days.
Most A or A+ machines will take 2 hours or more to do a normal cottons 40 wash.

I am sure that I read somewhere that some of the Servis machine washes can take longer than 155 mins to complete! Depends on the temp setting I think.0

My last machine was a Servis and there wasn't many options for different washes, the shortest one on mine was over 2 hours.
I have now got another machine and if I put it on when I go to bed or go to work I use the AA wash but it takes well over 3 hours0
