Old Style Saturday 30 March

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Good morning folks.

I was woken up by a phone call from my SisIL from Oz, it's lovely to chat to her but the time difference is a nightmare!

This morning I'll just be hanging about waiting for DM to be brought home. Things are all spick and span here and ready for her.

I hope that everyone is doing well, thoughts to those who are struggling. Sometimes life events slap us around the head when we least expect it.

Remember to 'spring' the clocks forward tonight - saying that I don't have any analouge clocks left apart from my own watch which I didn't change in October last year! :rotfl:

    Happy Saturday to all.

Good morning, another pleasant morning here, but there is a slight frost.

Thanks for starting Gers, and hope your Mum settles in all right

We had a busy day yesterday with little Dgs, as he's into everything, then we picked up his sister from school, and took them both home at about 6pm

There was a bit of clearing up to do because Dgd is into card making which involves a lot of glitter. You never totally clear glitter up I don't think, there's always a sparkle somewhere
    .
Saw a friend last night for wine and gossip, it was very relaxing.

Today there's a little party for Dgs as he was one the other day, and that's it .

Sorry to be so boring, but that's life!!

Thinking of the poorly and sad people,

    Take care folks
  • Morning folks and thanks GERS. I hope all goes well for you and your DM after her discharge.

After a week of gloriously sunny starts we have fog today. I don't much like it but it is supposed to lift shortly.

I must go in town this morning as I have some money here to pay into the bank. I don't like keeping money in the house and my bag has been going up to bed with me at night! There are some other odd bits I need from town whilst down there then I'll be straight back home.

Mobile hairdresser is coming around 2.00 to give me a much needed trim. It's looking very wayward!

Well that's my boring news for today. Hope you all have a more exciting day planned than me! As always it's ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad, worried and lonely. Take care all xx

    Morning everyone

Gers - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one, and those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Sun now shining brightly, dry underfoot , I have a basket full of washing to peg out. Weather doesn't look so good from tomorrow.

DH u and enjoying first cuppa, I've just finished cuppa and porridge, DS1 still in his pit. DS2 settled and ok.

Dinner last night was breaded chicken portion, chips and beans for the menfolk, I had fish cakes and veg.

Was reasonably productive again yesterday got more washing line dried, ironed what needed it. Did some admin type jobs.

Anyone heard from JackieO? Tru hasn't been about for ages either, hope you're ok.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning All

Not much weather to report on this morning, it's just there - not sunny, wet or windy.

I nipped over to Ikea yesterday after work and ordered the parts I need for the bed. It's a very good service, the parts are ordered and they will arrive in the post within a couple of days at no charge.

Came home and did all the housework, I was exhausted when I'd finished so rewarded myself with a nice warm bath, a gin and some catch up TV - perfect!

Bed stripped this morning, hoping it dries before I go up to Glasgow for my treat night, I'm really looking forward to it. DD is coming up to meet me tomorrow and we can have a wander around.

Good luck for Mum's return today Gers, you will both be glad when she's home.
I feel your pain with the glitter ScarletRibbons, I've only just cleared up the blasted stuff from DGD's last visit and she's coming again on Monday. I'm not buying any more after this, just to do my bit for the environment.

Hope you all have a good weekend, take care. XX

    Morning :)

Little lie in for me this morning and much appreciated. When I did get up my stomach seemed to think my throat had been cut so I knocked up some beans on toast with a couple of slices of bacon :) most unlike me to want brekky at all so it made a nice change. Stuffed now :o

Nothing much planned bar the usual Saturday stuff and a kitchen clean :( If the weather is nice like yesterday then I will get out in the garden for a bit ...it was so warm yesterday I was tempted to put some summer clothes on today so when I pulled the shutters and saw the fog then it was a bit of an anti climax ...back to fleece and joggers

Yesterdays freezer find reminded me of the need to label again...thought it was some ragu so planned a pasta bake ...much nicer outcome for me though was finding it was liver bacon and onion :T sadly not enough for two days so another rummage this morning produced what I think is a fish pie but who really knows :o

Thinking about candygirl today such a sad loss for her

Hope you all have a lovely day

    Morning all

Its a lovely day here sun is shining and its meant to get up to 18 deg today :j. I got my shopping done and put away yesterday so don't need to fight the crowds today.

I have stripped the beds today and I think my lovely favourite duvet set might have done its last shift, it was a huge bargain years ago was something like £200 reduced down to £30 and is a really heavy cotton one which feels luxurious when you are in bed, the pillow cases have been sewn up many times but last night I put my foot through the cotton on the duvet cover twice :o I think its got so thin after about 20 years that its given up the ghost, so I may need to go and get another one today, I love good quality white bedding so may treat myself.

I will see if dd wants to come for a trip out as her partner normally works Saturdays.

I bought two reduced steaks in m & s yesterday so that's dinner for tonight.

Candy I have been thinking of you its completely devastating to when a pet goes they are family members and he was so young its just not fair.

Have good days all and enjoy the weather xx

Morning all. Foggy here too not nice after the lovely sunny weather. Not much going on here. John feels a bit bored and wants to do things but his body hasn't caught up yet. He is having visitors now so that is nice.

Gers hugs to you and positive vibes for your mum. HH hope the move went well.

Hugs to all and I hope everyone has a good day.

    Morning lovelies.
We have fog :(. I want to strip the bed and wash the bedding, but just when I think the blasted fog has gone, in it rolls again ! The sun is trying it's hardest to break through so I'll have to give it some encouragement and do a "sun" dance .
I also did the "grape" dance on a double duvet last night ( which was hardly used and too good to get rid ) and left it to drip drying over the bath, so I need to finish that off on the patio, then I can add some poppers and turn it into a single mattress topper :D:money:.
After cleaning upstairs, I might do a bit in the garden too as I'm itching to get to grips with my new secateurs :j. Although both my green waste bins are choc-a-bloc and ready for the first emptying of the year on Monday.
I also have to make a get well card for one of our neighbours ( a walking friend of Mr Fix It ) as he has fallen in the garden, breaking his collar bone and dislocating his shoulder .
    Camelot enjoy tonight
Tea tonight will be bacon, sausage, egg etc..
Hope everyone keeps well today and enjoys their Saturday.

    Take care
    nan xx
