NHS Dentist (Im So Angry)

I work for a large company but its 20 miles away so when i went on materntiy leave i left the company dentist, being a) i now get it free and B) the distance to my work.

My work as a company dentist onsite that used to cost a couple of pounds a week.

Anyway since i have ben on maternity leave i have managed to find a nhs dentist, who just cant be bothered with me.

I went in december in total agony to be told i needed a tooth pulling but it was too booked up and it would take 3 weeks to get me an appointment making it over christmas and new year. I was in agony i eventually went to the local hospital and had it pulled out.

Then start of April i rang up for an appointment and they gave me 3rd june, i went in today to see how long it would take so i could book hair dressers straight after, they have no record of my appointment and the dentist is off work for yet another week.

so i asked when the next appointment was and she said 1st week in July.

thats when my free dental is up.

SO WHY DO THE GOVERNMENT GIVE YOU FREE DENTAL DURING MATERNITY LEAVE IF YOU CANT GET IT.

So i walked out of the surgery in disgrace, there is no way i am paying them for my dental treatment i would rather pay work.

Is there any one you can claim to about nhs dentists and such..........

Yes, your local health authority. That is disgusting treatment how you have been treated. My mum used to be on the local health authority board and had to deal with lots of complaints very similar to yours in her local area.

The phone number should be in your local directory amongst the NHS numbers.

It may have been a better idea to make an appointment with the NHS dentist as soon as was possible after having the extraction rather than waiting until April?

When did you have your baby? You are entitled to free NHS dental treatment until your child is one year old

How the hell in the 21st Century can the Government still be suggesting that it's okay to stick Mercury in peoples mouths and fart about with it?

    Total dimwits.

Do you know what chemicals are in white fillings? They are no safer than amalgam ones. But neither are they any more harmful.

I would do a bit more research before you start telling people 'where to get off'.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.
