Help Please !

I am hoping someone can help with this, a short while ago i asked for help with getting my white shirts etc bright white again in the washing machine and had some excellent advice which has worked absolute wonders (everything looks new) ! The problem is that all my black clothes (shirts, trousers etc) seem to not wash properly no matter which cycle i put them on they look to me as if they have residue of wash powder or something on them as they have white marks near the seams ! Any advice on this one please . . . .

The only thing I could suggest is that you turn them inside out when washing them and try and use a liquid in the machine instead of powder.

First of all, try giving your washing machine a really good clean by running it on empty on the hot wash cycle just in case there's a lot of detergent stuck inside somewhere. I do this using a bit of washing soda every now and then. Second, as samj said, try a non-biological liquid wash and certainly something 'gentle'. I use a 'silk and wool' liquid on most of my clothes - Lidl do one much cheaper than the brands. You could also try one of the liquids especially for black clothes - Persil do one but Aldi, etc, also do one every so often in their offers and it is worth stocking up. Finally, you could try an extra rinse cycle after the main wash has finished just to get rid of any residue.
