Photos app on Mac

I'm trying to sort out some of my photos on the Photos app on my MacBook.

For example, I always take 2 photos every month of the electricity and gas meter readings. I've created a 'Utilities' album and I move the 2 photos each month to that album.

This still leaves me with the photos on the main file, which I don't need, as they are cluttering up the rest of my collection. Therefore, I have tried 'hiding' these photos - but it also hides the ones in the separate album.

Is there any way round this?

The photos aren't being physically moved into a different folder and will be linked from your 'Utilities' collection. As there is only one physical copy of each image, hiding it will hide it from any other link as you have discovered. You could get round this by 'exporting' them from Photos to a new physical folder in Finder named appropriately then deleting them completely from Photos. MacOS and IOS work the same way and need to because of the iCloud integration. You could also store the photos in the Notes App and if you use an iPhone to take them control the phone Camera App from the Notes App on the Mac.

Thank you Datostar. Yes, I understand that's it's only a copy in my album but I hadn't understood the link. Thanks for clarifying that. I like your suggestion of exporting them to a new folder in Finder.

Yes, I do use an iPhone and I've just taken a photo via Notes (wasn't sure what you meant, but get it now).

Thanks for your help. I now have 2 options. The Finder method would just be local to my MacBook whereas the Notes method would keep them in iCloud. Now I'm not sure which is best!!
