Hi
I completely dug over and laid to lawn a jungle of a garden when we moved in. This was over 2 years ago now. The work involved masses of chopping back and removing overgrown bushes, trees and borders and levelling the area by scraping the soil back from the high point to the low point. It was then prepared properly and seeded. I now have a lovely big lawn that has come on well in the 2 yrs.
The only problem I have is that the grass at the lowered end has a permanent yellowish tinge to it and is nowhere near as thick as the raised end. The soil was prepared properly, rotavated and fertilized ect. I had though that it may be due to compaction and have aerated and cored the area but the grass still seems yellow. Will this come to with regular aerating and feeding? Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

My first thought would be water logging but you say youre aerating so unlikely, however it could be compacted lower down...if you look at a cross section of the layers of soil can you see a black layer of soil 2cm below the soil surface?
Fungus can spread extensively and cause this look, especially with a damp not wet winter, have you sprayed with a lawn fungicide?0 -
To me it sounds like you have taken all the good uppermost layer of soil off one end and transferred it to the other, leaving you with one end with very poor soil and some form of nutritional or trace-element deficiency. I’d try a good nitrogen fertiliser and possibly a seaweed or similar supplement for the trace elements.0

Thanks for the replies. Will definitely give the fertilizer with a supplement a go. Got a good garden supply shop across the road from us so will call in on Monday and give it a go. Thanks again :beer:Debts 14/6/2019 (LBM 5/3/2019)

One thing i can say for certain, it is definitely not waterlogging. It's a raised lawn with very good drainage due to being in close proximity to a beach and quite sandy below the top layers of soil. Will definitely keep in mind a lawn fungicide if the fertilizer and supplement method bears no fruit (or grass in this case).:rotfl:Debts 14/6/2019 (LBM 5/3/2019)
