Nest or Hive

Do you mean you chose Hive instead of nest? If so the Nest thermostat is also wireless and can be moved about.
At the time we got ours, the only Nest was wired.
Though looking at the new Nest E, that thermostat too seem to need to be plugged into the mains. Only the Heat Link E seems to have batteries,0 -
I love my Nest.0

Bought hive off BG when a BG customer, never had a problem and like most other posters comments on battery life my batteries lasted about three years. I also like the iPad/iPhone app and find it really easy to use. I only use three of the daily time settings so have no problem having only six available. I also get an average temperature email about every three months which tells me if my average temp is higher than other local Hive users, not really much help as it can't compare like for like.0

Ah yes thought so. We have our Hive on the coffee table or move it to the island in the kitchen or bedside table in the bedroom. As it is wireless, no need to plug it into anything. We have the table stand for it.0 -

I went for Hive because it was battery operated! I wanted to be able to move the thermostat around the house and didn’t want more wires. I’ve had it 18 months and the original batteries still have about 25% left.0 -

What's the reason you want to move the Hive around the house? that just seems like extra hassle you don't need.
I have the Nest in a fixed location, it looks good and it's constantly learning how long it takes to warm the house to a certain temperature and what temperature i like at certain times. So i don't even need to touch it hardly at all now because it's always at the right temperature. If i was moving it about to different rooms it wouldn't be able to do that very well at all.0 -

Sometimes we only use part of the house, shut them off by closing the doors. We have a formal lounge but only use it with guest and family. Some rooms are colder than others as they have original single glazed windows.
In the winter we move the thermostat to the bedroom to get that just right and turn down the TRVs downstairs. If the thermostat was downstairs we would need to get that floor warm as well for the bedroom to heat up.0 -
I have a Hive, I'm not convinced the learning function on the Nest will work as well as my manual settings.0
