118118 searches on file, not me?

Hi there,

I have two searches on my file by 118118, one listed as a ‘quotation search’ and one as ‘AF’ which I assume is anti-fraud?

Does anybody know if any other businesses come under 118118 for searches? I can’t remember specifically using a comparison site, I haven’t applied for any loans recently (or ever!) but have opened a couple of new bank accounts and an AMEX card.

Not sure how worried I should be...

Edit: looking back through emails, no comparison sites used that day but I did open an ISA that day and changed energy supplier the day before, could this be relevant? Thanks for any help!

On Noddle, AF means Anti-Fraud. I get an AF marker every couple of months or so from Vanquis. It coincides with Vanquis sending me a pre-approved application sales letter in the post. Are you getting any mail-shots from 118118?

I also have AF searches from Barclaycard and Hitachi. I periodically get mailshots from Barclaycard, but I'm at a loss to explain Hitachi...

Could be ClearScore.
I had some appear on my report and it turns out it was ClearScore running a quotation search on me.

I have had a few of those, can’t remember what for exactly as the envelopes say ‘marketing material enclosed’ so I just throw them away. If that’s it then that’s a relief! Thank you.

They've been searching my credit file every month. If you're using MSE Credit Club (Experian) they will remove them for you, there's no way to report them to Clearscore or Noodle. They stopped (touch wood) after I reported them to Experian, there's an option to put a note on your credit file so only companies authorised by you can search your credit file if you want. I don't receive marketing info, just masses of soft searches. Hitachi offer loans.

I also complained to them after I found they were doing soft searches on me (without my consent) - their reply was as I had used comparison sites in the past the agreement I 'signed' with them was sufficient.
