You can only complain about PPI if you actually had it.

Sorry if it's taken you six hours to establish this..

As above, you can only complain about (not "claim") PPI if you actually had it.

You don't make a claim, you need ro make a complaint that it wasn't any good for you, so savings, cover elsewhere, good sick pay are good reasons for loans and credit cards. SIngle premium is also a good reason for loans.
MOrtgages, more difuclt to show you didn't need cover.
No one is owed any money and you don't just get it back because you're entitled to it, you have to make a complaint.

With credit cards, any PPI was charged on an outstanding balance and would be visible on every statement as protection cover or something like that. For loans, it would be on the original agreement

What you can do, is go to the website of every major company you had credit with and either complain on their website, [they all have a PPI complaints section] or phone them up and complain.

There are rules regarding who was regulated and who was not, so brokers, car dealers, non regulated cmpanies like Ocean Finance, First Plus etc, were not usually regulated prior to 2005.

Work out who you had credit with, and then complain to those companies, come back any more questions.

And never beleiev claims companies, they are all a unch of lying bar stewards who will tell yu anything to get you to sign up with them. They have no special powers, they cannot access your data, and they use the same complaints proces that you would except they'll charge you 24% for the price of a stamp.

I think the OP needs to establish whether he actually had any PPI before progressing to a fully fledged complaint.
  • I have had a a letter from them saying i am owed £xxx on an egg card and egg loan. they seam not keen to pay out as they say i was in an IVA at that time. This is not true i was in an DMP with cccs. I cleard these with agreed lump sums. with a credit management firm. I have one letter from the credit management company ref the egg credit card. which confirms the lump sum and that the balace was £0. I cant find any paper work ref egg loan. As this was over 9 years ago. All information from cccs and the debt management company no longer excists.ARE canada square right to refuse to pay me the ppi they say i am entitled to?

Any redress will go against the unpaid sums, which will inevitably occur with a DMP.

Even though your debt was settled, if they waived interest, or you didn't pay back the full amount, they are entitled to set off any redress against that first.

  • Thanks for replies. The records of my DMP with the CCCS have gone. as it was so long ago. So how do they know who to send the funds to.

If you defaulted on the egg card or loan, then they will apply it to that.
