Can any you recommend a greenhouse supplier, either a nationwide company or one local to the Harrogate / Leeds area?

Do most suppliers deliver flat packed for you to build yourself? I assume some oval suppliers may offer a build service.

Any general greenhouse advice appreciated as we’ve not had one before.

Get one larger than you think you'll need.

Personally, I'd never buy a new greenhouse, as there are usually plenty of redundant ones for sale, or like my last one, free. The act of taking it down, complete with photos and a system of labelling the bits, means one has a good idea of how it may be re-built.

Ditto. In our case, a friend's husband had built a couple of greenhouses so he was pressed into service as 'expert supervisor' with Mr S and another friend as labour.

From memory, The Greenhouse People do offer a build service, but it obviously isn't cheap. They don't lay the permanent base as well (I doubt any companies would) , so you would need to sort that out before fitting day.

ADD: Just googled them, and it looks like they have lists of recommended builders by area. Makes sense - you buy the greenhouse from them and then employ the fitter separately.

I’ll definitely be taking a closer look at The Greenhouse People.
We currently have a large dog kennel sites where the greenhouse will go and we’re hoping the base it’s on will be suitable for a greenhouse to go straight on top.
  • I bought my 4ftx4ft Elite Compact from Greenhouse Stores. I could've bought from them online but instead I called them and placed my order. Helpful chap on the phone and really good quality greenhouse.
You'll find me in the garden. In the shed. In my greenhouses. Or maybe the local hostelry!

Have you thought about building your own - if you use a wooden frame and polycarbonate sheeting it's surprisingly simple and you get much more value for money especially if you can salvage old wood and poly sheeting from neighbours/friends..
