Non Existent Mortgage on Credit Report

Options
Hi all, I'm hoping you can help.

My daughter (21) is applying for a loan for her first car, and is getting declined based on that she can't provide any details on a mortgage she supposedly took out in November 2018.

She has no, and never has had, a mortgage.

However, in November 2018 she did sign a new letting agreement to co-rent a house, and this was done through purple bricks.

Can any of you advise on how to put this right?

thanks in advance.

  • Put what right?

Where are people getting the idea from that she has a mortgage?

It's appearing on her credit report.

Experian and Equifax both claim that she has a mortgage, but she doesn't.
  • What exactly is showing on the reports?

  • It doesn’t say that at all.
They’re identification questions to prove it’s really you.

So the answer is none to all of them

Its like a trick question, the real person eg your daughter would know the correct answer and would choose the appropriate answer which is none of the above.

I’ve done quite a few of those verifications before but this does look odd.

After accessing her credit report, I’d look to see if it is there - maybe fraud or admin error took place.

    .
Why is your daughter being asked for details of a mortgage in order to apply for a loan? Who is asking about the mortgage? How does she know that inability to provide this information is causing her loan application to be declined?
These are very strange terms for a mortgage. 21-23 months, 24-26 months? Who takes out a mortgage with such a short term.
Anyway, check the credit files to see if this mortgage is actually reported.

it says initial term, which is the fixed rate element, surely?

She needs to access her full report and dispute it
