Building regs - kitchen fitters

Hi,
Hope someone can advise? Not knowing much about this sort of thing.

But, we have had a company install a new kitchen for us, which involved new oven in different location, new dishwasher (not had one before), new sink, etc.

Was expecting some sort of certificate of completion of works to meet regs. But, the fitter has said he hasn't moved any electrics and you don't need any.

I'm a bit confused, is this normal? If not, what is my recourse

Cheers

  • He may not have done, the cooker could be on a 13 amp plug and the dishwasher on and existing circuit.

    More information is needed.

Thanks, this is our oven https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/household-appliances/cooking/ovens/neff-b3ace4hn0b-slide-hide-electric-oven-stainless-steel-10175682-pdt.html.

Didn't take notice of the plug when installed, will see if I can check

Integrated oven says - 13 Amp (Requires hardwiring to a fused spur). Dishwasher/sink is new plumbing as the old one sink and plumbing was ripped out.

Still going to be 13 amp so he may have changed the faceplate to a fused spur.

We also changed the hob, from a gas hob to electric hob. I assume this was hard wired too

    Better not to assume anything.

Current Building Regulations are available online on the Planning Portal. Ventilation (extractor fan/ cooker hood) is relevant when installing a new kitchen.

Electric ceramic hob. Googling the model, looks like it's 3000W

If the kitchen is being installed in a new location or within an extension, then ventilation needs to comply with building regulations. Refitting an existing kitchen does not require approval - Caveat is any electrical work and major changes to drainage. Eletrical & gas can be self certified by a suitably qualified trades person.

If the OP is having a new cooker hood fitted that vents to the outside (generally a good idea), then it is as well to fit one suitably sized for the room - https://www.planningportal.co.uk/info/200130/common_projects/34/kitchens_and_bathrooms/3
