There is no cost to you in installing Smart meters.
Smart or older meters are the property of the supplier - if they fail then the supplier will replace - there is no cost to you.
Many, many threads on this forum re for and against . Me I vote for (but I acknowledge the industry / government has made some big mistakes) t the end of the day a meter is a meter - its purpose is to record your consumption.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
We had a smart meter installed by our previous electricity/gas supplier. Inevitably, once we changed suppliers the meter went 'dumb'. I have no problems with walking out of the kitchen door and checking/providing meter readings once a month - indeed I like to be able to monitor our use and bills the 'old fashioned' way. The in house monitor has been consigned to a drawer somewhere - it was of absolutely nil value to us. Given a choice, make sure your smart meter is a second generation one, but don't fret about it otherwise. Nothing will have changed, other than a bit of technology in your meter cupboard.#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3660
