Saving on Utilities

Is it just me or does the savings club not actually save you any money when comparing your current tariff to the ones that are suggested?

It appears as though switching to certain energy providers is going to save you money however, when you look closer at the unit price and standing charge compared to what you are actually paying at the moment, there are no savings there to be made.

Every company has been increasing their prices for the past 2 years or so.
If you have in the past 24 months moved to a cheap tariff then the chances are that any new deal will cost you more.
    It's called inflation.
Oh and Government initiatives like Smart Meters, solar energy payments etc which all get added to the bill.
The wholesale energy cost is probably only 40% of the price you pay!
  • They calculate based on what you would pay for the next year often assuming you'd go onto your supplier's standard tariff. This is actually how OFGEM requests comparisons are done.

Not against how much you currently or have previously paid for the last year.

Yes that is very annoying. When I look for a new deal I want to know how it compares to my existing deal. I will have no intention of going onto my existing supplier's standard tariff so that comparison is pointless.
