USB Drive

I had a usb drive in my pc, when I did a reboot. The pc performed a file check, and now I've noticed half of my files on the usb stick have gone. Quite a few folders are still there, but some of these have gone also. Can anyone help.

You can try to use data recovery software to see if you can get any of the missing data back, but don't raise your hopes too high, especially if the drive is damaged.
I guess you didn't have any backups...

No backups on the drive, no. Nothing really important on it, just some stuff that I found useful.

usb drives are never safe places to keep data. take it you have done the obvious and checked the recycle bin? can't you go back to the original source of the data and retrieve from there? are you sure none of the data was uploaded to any cloud storage companies like dropbox, onedrive, google drive etc

Done a scan with data recovery pro, and the files have been found. Going to cost me $39 dollars to register the program though.

    Dont pay that yet ..

Try recuvva - its free https://www.ccleaner.com/recuva

Tip for future - always eject the drive prior to pulling it out - save consistancy

Thanks. I did try Recuva on something else once, but the free version only recovers a certain amount. If it finds them all though, it's still cheaper than others I'd have to pay for. To be honest, a lot of it won't need to be recovered anyway. Just stuff I saved on there while on my pc at work.
