Churchill car insurance; only £1.00 taken so far

Hi all. My insurance is due to re-start on 3.4.19. I paid Churchill close to £300 for the policy.

Now I know the £1.00 is taken as some sort of 'check" to see if the card used is legit, but my mobile banking app. says it can take a couple of days for the full payment to show.

In a few hours time it'll be 3 days since I paid them, and nothing has changed. Does it normally take more than 2 days for the funds to clear?

Thanks in advance.

They have up to 6 months to take the money but a week or less is more common.

Stop worrying, it's not your problem.

Well it would be my problem if I realised later on that I wasn't insured.

Luckily my documents came through this morning, but that £1.00 is still showing as pending. In other words I've not paid the full amount. As mentioned in that first post of mine, my current insurance runs out on 3.4.19.

If by then the full payment hasn't gone through, would I need to get in touch with the bank or the insurance company?

Had insurance with RSA years ago and one time they took 3 years to cash the payment cheque after sending all the paperwork.

This can be normal - DirectLine did it with me once. Took them over a month for them to debit the cost of the policy after it started.

When I contacted them they told me not to worry about it and they'd get in touch if there was an issue.

I could only think they wanted the income assigned in a different financial period for some reason.

The definitive answer to your worries (are you insured or not on 4/4/19) can only be given to you by your insurer.
