Hi I have dropped my Samsung Galaxy S7 and cracked the screen. (It has a case and screen protector but it must have landed on a weak spot)
Does anyone know if it's possible to get the screen replaced and if so where's the best place.
The phone is covered under the house contents insurance with a £50 excess.
Any thoughts would be great.

In my experience once a screen is replaced the phone/item is never the same again.
I would recommend you pay the difference/extra and claim on the insurance.0 -
Parts cost more than your excess add in the install (or £0 if you DIY). It will probably come with a "warranty" too , do the maths , and also ask your insurance co how much it will save you to remove accidental damage cover. It would obviously be better value if it was nicked

Pay the £50 excess and get it repaired through insurance, looking at screens on Ebay, you can get the glass digitiser for around £10 for an aftermarket product however the screen and LCD are around £100 and I very much doubt they are genuine Samsung, to replace the screen the phone requires pretty much a to the bare bones strip down, even if it's only the digitiser screen that needs replacing your local Mobile Phone repair shop is going to charge way more than the £50 excess. To put it in to perspective, on the high street an iphone 6 screen repair would cost around £60 using an aftermarket screen and they are pretty straightforward, I can do one in half an hour, an S7 would take about 3 times that time.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0

You can also look at the screen on Aliexpress, you can get the glass for around $2 and can find the LCD is around $60-85. I don't know they are genuine but looks original to me.Travel Enthusiast0

They won’t be genuine and you have to add the cost of someone qualified to fit the screen, it will cost more than the £50 excess and the insurance company will or should repair to manufacturers spec or replace the phone.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -
Time for a new phone

and don't claim under house insurance. You probably pay more for next couple of year.0 -

I had my MacBook Pro screen repaired on my house contents insurance and it doesn’t seem to have affected my premium y much if at all, I’m paying around £20 more a year now than I was 2 years ago when I claimed.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0
