Worcester Bosch new heat exchanger

My 12 yr old WB combi is leaking, looks like from the main heat exchanger. Had a quote from WB for a fixed price repair, includes all labour and materials for £270, with 12mth warranty on materials used. Is this a good deal or would I be better in getting in a local firm?

You can't even buy a main heat exchanger for £270 so I'll let you decide if it's a good dealI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
Local to whom?
Always get more than one quote.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
Check with Worcester Bosch but I seem to recall the heat exchanger is specifically excluded from their fixed price repair.0

Are you sure it's the heat ex and not a cheaper part like the manifold.0

Thanks all, glen nevis, I’ll check back with WB. Water is dripping from around the fitting that the condensate trap is fiited to. I’ve removed the trap and isolated the mains water but the drip is still there. The boiler has been off since yesterday morning so I’m assuming that the water is coming from the c/h circulation side.0

If only Worcester Bosch were as good at making boilers as they are at telling everyone how great they are!
The heat exchanger is noted for leaking and the Worcester Bosch fixed price repair is actually a very good deal, probably because they realise the need to protect the reputation they've built through expert marketing.
Vaillant for example, exclude the heat exchanger from their fixed price repair deals. I'd grab that price with both hands I suggest. I'd need to charge at least double that if I were carrying out this repair due to the cost of the parts, even at trade prices.
Now you have two professional gas bods in this thread telling you the same thing!Boiler repair technician in Reading, will travel. Older and awkward boilers my speciality. Google "Mike the Boilerman".0 -
I changed my WB heat exchanger last year - the part cost me £295.
I did think afterwards that I was foolish not to look into a fixed price repair.0
