How to unblock a shower drain with a waste trap?

Doesn't this (as Firefox says) reference Mascerators (in toilets) and mechanical food waste disposals (in sinks) which I haven't ever heard of a shower using.

Have you tried something like Mr Muscle Foamer which actually expands and then dissolves the gunk?

The plastic bit in the middle does sometime get stuck - use a couple of flat blade screwdrivers to gently lever it up under the rubber ring then clean it off in warm water - pour your favourite drain unblocker down the hole and leave for half hour while you clean it off.

As suggested above have used the Mr Muscle stuff which works great, the Cillit Bang one does a good job too.

The plastic bit should be an easy fit when it's all cleaned up.
