Solar Panels and Smart Meters - compatibility

Hi, I have solar panels on my roof (4Kwp).
Now that only SMETS2 smart meters can be installed, can I go ahead and get one.
Anyone have experience of this please. I've read of incompatibility issues / lost generation revenue etc.
Any advice gratefully received.
Cheers - Joe

Hi Joe
The best people to ask about anything which affects solar systems hang out in the Green And Ethical Forum https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1000 -
Also don't be too sure that SMETS1 meters cannot be installed. The E.ON rep states they still can be installed in this post https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/75605909#Comment_756059090

I have had solar panels for a few years, smart meters were fitted last year. Not aware of any problems, but how would generation be lost?0

Thx - I've read of problems with the SMETS1. Perhaps it's incompetent installation ?

I've had solar panels for the past 8 years now and a SMETS1 smart meter for the past 4 years. My electricity supplier is Eversmart, but my FIT is paid by nPower as I was with them at the time of installing the panels.
So I pay my electricity bill to Eversmart and receive my FIT payments from nPower. The changing of my old analogue meter to a smart meter did not affect any of this.
I'm not sure if the new SMETS2 meters will change this.0
