Hello,
I am due to receive inheritance from Australia, I am a British national. Any tips on how it is best to receive this to avoid various bank fees and get the best exchange rate possible? I am aware of the collection and negotiation fees with banks, but was wondering if anyone has experience of using foreign exchange transfer companies to receive funds into, for better rates.
Thank you in advance!

My late husband inherited some money from New Zealand. He opened a NZ$ bank account with our bank (First Direct) with the intention of keeping it for a future holiday there or waiting for a good exchange rate.
What actually happened was the stupid solicitor disregarded my husband's email advising that the account was a NZ$ account and 'helpfully' converted the money into £ sterling. The bank, then converted it back into NZ$ when it went into the account. He lost about £800.
After we wrote a letter of complaint to the solicitor, we got the £800 back."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0 -
