Euro Car Parks/Debt Recovery Plus.. my friend has ignored a letter!

Options
Hi all,

I'm trying to help my friend out who got a fine from ECP, appealed it (basically said they thought it was all day one charge pay and display, it wasn't, and they overstayed as a result. It was a genuine mistake!).

They appealed, ECP said push off.. but she's sat on it and now is getting letter from DR+ wanting more money.

My friend isn't isn't very good with this sort of stuff and has buried her head in the sand a bit and now is worried and wants to pay. I've told her to hold off for the time being.

It seems she has missed the boat to appeal to POPLA as she got her rejection back in January.. not sure where to go fro here. Is it still worth trying to appeal further or bite the bullet? £160 seems excessive!

Please read the NEWBIES sticky thread at the top of the board - it'll answer the majority of your questions.

DR+ are debt collectors and can do nothing - your friend goes into IGNORE MODE - only ECP can issue court claims.

Your friend may get letters from Zenith - again, IGNORE MODE, as they're also debt collectors, can't do court claims, and are (I believe) in the same office as DR+, just a different desk (we believe they sit next to each other and take turns as to who's who depending on what day of the week it is).

    Obviously neither!

    Ignore them.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • Hi I went to my brothers partners 70th celebrations at a Toby Carvery. I helped with decorations and cake in small private room so was there for a total of 4 hours. I didn't realise they had a parking system so have now received a Parking Charge notice. Every one on this site seems to say ignore it and don't pay it,, which I am doing. But some say don't pay it but don't ignore it??? which is the correct way and why, please.

My friend isn't isn't very good with this sort of stuff

In which case she should ask her MP to help.

On 18th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these private parking companies. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, and persistent offenders denied access. Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers.

Until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.

Which simply is not true is it? You have NOT read that here.
Option two is correct as is MothballsWallet's advice.

What is said here is to ignore DEBT COLLECTORS and that is correct

Have you spoken to Toby yet considering the money you spent and ask them to cancel the ticket
