Credit card transaction fees

Hi we are a PTA running as a charity and have an iZettle card machine so we can take card payments. We are charged a 1.75% transaction fee. We know rules changed and you can't charge a fee for people using credit cards to pay but this is an issue for us where we need to use the machine for our school uniform shop. This is a non profit making activity we buy the uniform from our supplier and make it available to parents for purchase at the cost price. We want to use iZettle for this but the transaction fee would mean we sell at a loss. Unless we up every price by 1.75% for credit card payments (is that allowed) how can we offset the transaction fee legally please? Any advice much appreciated!

You would have to increase the cost for all methods of payment.

You cant, you need to factor the card fees into the price. Putting the price up 1.75% will never be noticed.

the change in law was to "stop" discriminatory surcharges for those paying by card

as ever, the real outcome was business put their prices up for everyone so as to cover the few who paid with expensive cards. And that is precisely what you have to do as well, a 1.75% price rise across the board on all items to all customers, otherwise you are discriminating.

You can up all prices or look at how many payments are taken on card and average it, ie a 1% price increase might cover those paying by card.
