Sowing seeds after mulching with bark?

I felt very pleased with myself for putting bark chips down in a new flower bed but now want to sow some seeds that I generally sow where they’ll grow (e.g. gypsophila). What’s the best way of doing this? Clear a bit of bark where I’m going to sow? Sow in pots and plant out instead? I’ve though about making some rings from empty pop bottles but it seems like a faff.

I think I'd sow in pots first. The bark presumably was meant to help stop weed growth so it will do same to any flower seedlings, safest to use pots this yearEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

Toilet roll tubes, if planting out fairly soon after they sprout then cut one in half.
I tend to cut them in half and start a lot of my seeds like that. Easy to make a small hole and drop the whole thing in, the leaves should be just showing through the bark. Nature will do the rest.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
