Do I Have A Case?

Hi Everyone. Thanks for taking the time.
Many years ago I was unemployed on job seekers allowance, and somehow managed to go overdrawn by about £60 with my Lloyds account, even though it was an account that shouldnt allow anything of the sort as it was the most basic account they do.
To cut the long story short, I moved about a lot as i was young and unsettled and i totally forgot about it.
Now i am older and have a family im looking to buy my first house, however, I have discovered that I have a CCJ on my account from lowell financial, from 2014 for the sum of about £1400. I called them up without giving them my address and they told me it was relating to Lloyds. I never received any letters from them at all (as i moved around a lot and didnt change my address, so obviously).
This has absolutely savaged my credit rating, even though i admit i am at fault for being irresponsible this seems totally out of proportion and has wrecked my aspirations.
Is there anything i can do to sort it out without having to pay such rediculous amounts?

See if they will accept a lower amount as full and final settlement.0

I have no issue doing that at all, what i really want to do is get the ccj removed. The financial side of it I can deal with. Is that something which is possible?0

You can't get out of it no. If you knew you were overdrawn you should have paid it off or asked for a payment plan. You don't have a legitimate reason for a CCJ set aside as you could have used a fixed address (such as parents) for mail while you were moving.
You can pay it off and have it marked as settled which will look better to lenders. Alternately while morally wrong, you could just ignore it until 2020 when the mark will drop off your record anyway though with a CCJ they can keep chasing you.Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

It depends. I would post on the debt free wannabe board. I would ask about the possiblility of complaining to Lloyds for the overdraft. You should also ascertain whether the debt was statute barred when the ccj was issued.
If the ccj was correctly issued [ and it was up to you to keep Lloyds updated as to your whereabouts so moving around a lot is not going to be a good excuse for not receiving letters] then the likliehood is it won't be removed. It will fall off your credit repost after six years but it can be marked settled if you settle the debt.
But as I said, ask on the debt free wannabe board.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Unless the last contact was pre 2008 then the debt will not be statute barred - as others suggested you not updating your address is down to you, if you make an other this could be considerably less than the outstanding but will ultimately remain on your files till 2020.0
