TDS return the money directly to you. The agent shouldn’t have it

Would depend on whether the agent used the custodial or insurance scheme

If the OP went and logged into his account with the TDS he would find out who lodged the deposit and who it has been paid out too.

My understanding was that any deposit was returned by the TDS direct to the tenants bank account?

Have you OP actually spoken to anyone in the TDS scheme?

Have googled this Real Estate Agency and only one appears as page not found. Is op positive that this is the actual name of the estate agents.

The real estate agency doesn't return my deposit even when.......
I think we all assumed 'Real EA' was the EA's name.

After all, what would be the point of describing them as a pretend EA? Unless they were a pretend EA in which case I suspect your post would have explained why you thought so..........

Sorry, English is not my first language. I thought "real estate agent" was the term to use in order to refer to any agency dealing with tenancies. I can give you the name of the agency in a Private Message if you are interested.
I was saying "real estate agency" because of this:

As far as I am aware you are not able to instigate the return if its an Insurance backed scheme. You can however still find out if its registered. If you don't know which scheme has been used you will have to try all 3.

    Hope you get it sorted

    Ah!

'Real estate' is an American expression. And wiki is very American! If you read the wiki link further you'll se:

It is common practice for an intermediary to provide real estate owners with dedicated sales and marketing support in exchange for commission. In North America, this intermediary is referred to as a real estate broker (or realtor), or a real estate agent in everyday conversation, whilst in the United Kingdom, the intermediary would be referred to as an estate agent. In Australia the intermediary is referred to as a real estate agent or real estate representative or the agent.[3]
