O/S Daily Wednesday 27th March 2019

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one, and those that are poorly or looking after poorly people x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Cloudy and dry start to the day, but air feels warmer than yesterday. I'll peg a line of washing out before I leave for work.

DH and DS1 now getting ready for work and I'm showered, dressed and enjoying a first cuppa and porridge whilst on here. DS2 ok and settled.

Dinner last night was stuffed chicken breasts wrapped in bacon with pasta in a creamy sauce and peas. Tonight will be fish, chips/jacket potato and beans/veg.

Yesterday work was another busy day - love it when it's like this as the days' just fly by, I can't believe it's Wednesday already - my last working day of the week!

Keep safe and well x

  • Morning folks and Grr Grr my half typed post just disappeared on me!

    Tripping off today with my two bus buddies. But not Skipton this time, we are going on the slightly longer bus ride to Otley for a change. Sadly it's not the little market day but there are lots of charity shops to keep us occupied. Plus lunch with wine will be involved of course;

The poorly shoulder of yesterday has eased dramatically thank goodness. It remains a mystery as to what brought that on so suddenly.

Nels (and Dumpling!) did you see the Celebrity Bake off last night? Someone was making something using mint balls! (I was only half watching) I don't know if they were Uncle Joe's though! I haven't had any of those for years and now have a right longing for some. I see bags of them regularly in Home Bargains.

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely, plus the Carers. Take care all xx

    Morning All

I had a lovely day out yesterday to visit the children who are away, they are having a ball. We stayed for lunch and watched them do some quite scary activities, stopped to look at motorhomes on the way home! Who knew work could be so good! The weather was lovely, just a little drizzle on the way back.

Back to reality today, I'm sure I will be busy catching up from yesterday but only 3 days to the holiday.

I've just put the last coat of paint on the little bed, it will be good to have the kitchen table back! The rest of the house is a tip but won't take long to sort out.

Hugs to those in need, have a good Wednesday, take care. XX

    Morning :)

TA haven't watched it yet is saved for later ...that damm song has been running round my head all night :D

Happily finished off the project from hell yesterday :j Sending it tracked today to make sure they get it then I can wipe it from my brain. It wasn't the best work I've ever done by the end but it was good enough. Note to self dont agree to jobs like that again.

Mum day today so I must watch Emmerdale on catch up or there will be only corrie to talk about

Lamb koftas and were lovely last night. Made some spicy onions too from the Takeaway Secret book...loads left. Need to start making a list of all the things I am digging out of the freezer and really enjoying for when its restock time. Also found a pack of ready made pancakes so have got those out for a snack tonight.

    Have a lovely day all
  • Hello and happy hump day,

Yesterday was mostly spent in work although I did manage to nip out to the barbers at lunch. I am part of a very small sales team and on Friday of last week, one of my colleagues was made redundant because he wasn't pulling his weight, unfortunately. Such a shame because I really liked the guy and he had went out his way to help me settle in here but his work ethic wasn't there and in a small team, we need everyone to give it their all. Anyway, the office has gotten much quieter, so much so that I am in on my own today whilst my other colleague travels. No letting up though, got tons to do.

Back to football training tonight thankfully, which I'm looking forward to. I've got chicken out defrosting to make chicken chasseur tonight and I managed to quickly make some healthy cheesecakes last night to do me for the remainder of the week, can't wait to dig in to them. Need to do some ironing too before football training. Also need to remember and nip out at lunch and post my mums Mothers Day card.

But for now, I need to crack on with work. Hope everyone has a wonderful wednesday!

Morning all! Did lots yesterday even if there's not much to show for it, but some decluttering has been done [mostly things to take to the tip in the boot] and there are no more weds at the back of the garden now and the green bin is three quarters full. Also managed to do some overlocking of the pattern pieces I have already joined, am going to join the front top to the skirt front later on.
Friend coming round for a cup of later on and have sewing later on.
Today I think I'll make a start on the clothes sorting out and also lay out some of the wood to see how it looks for the beds. A shower and quick trip to Lidl are also on the cards. Along with probably mow the back end of the weed infested green stuff other people call a lawn.

Nelski, very good luck today. Never even heard of mint balls...hope she's pleased with them, if not, you know what to do :) SO, now, I read your post..And then I was laughing to myself that you've got your mother and compost on two lines, as if it's a word association type thing...Hope she's more communicative today anyway..Gintot, good to hear he's getting better. Speky, are you sure you're not falling into soft southern ways with your gallivanting? :) TA, have a nice day out. Gers, hope she's stopped being grumpy and is doing better. AOD, your pirate phase should be over now surely? nice to see you dumpling and nanny...

    Good morning all.

I've had a lazy start, I'm just so tired. Think it's all emotional tiredness or boredom.

My hospital visit will take place after lunch today. DM just sent me a one word text in response to mine :( I really don't think that she has given any consideration to the effects of all this stuff on me. Of course, she's the one going through the medical problems and she's bound to be scared about her future, however just two minutes of 'how are you' to me would be appreciated!

No more moans, others on here are going through so much more challenging problems with health and family, I am relatively unscathed.

An annoying problem yesterday was completing an online performance review programme. I had done it ages ago but seems that when selecting 'not applicable' to questions is not enough - the comments boxes needs something put in too before the systems accepts it. Cue much chuntering about 'stupid programmes' and utter nonsense written in the comment boxes - that along with 'serves them right' made me feel better. :rotfl:

Upside to my day yesterday was seeing my new bed linen on the bed. It's white with sheep printed on. Made me smile.

Now, off to do stuff - happy Wednesday to everyone.

    Morning all from sunny mehefinland

Bruisemare still not right although better than she was. Every time I have walked past the field gate with sallydog she has whinnied at me, Usually a sign that she is in discomfort. Had dropped her off the bute but I think she may need some more pain relief so it will be back in the feed tonight.
Its nearly always feet or guts with equines!!

DS is trying to persuade Mrs M to do the race for life this year. She did it several times some years back . We will see. It is nice to be able to give something back though, and after the treatment she has received I can see where he ( and she) are coming from.

The violets up the lane have nearly finished and are getting swamped by the rapidly growing grass. Hawthorn and blackthorn are starting to blossom though - everything seems so early this year.

Hugs and spoons as always to those in need
