Euro car parks

Hi, daughter got a notice to keeper with a parking charge of £85 because she parked in a pub car park for 30 mins (anpr photos) without obtaining a ticket. She visited the pub to collect her partner but thought it ok to park.
Is the advice to use the newbies thread and use the appeal template on there? Is that the best option? Thanks

  • First advice is to approach the pub landlord for cancellation.
If they refuse to help trash the establishment on social media to warn others.
Pubs are closing on a weekly basis, last thing they need is bad publicity.

Yes send the BLUE NEWBIES template as keeper - unaltered, no additions.

What was the date of this awful transgression and the date of issue of the PCN ?

Definitely contact the pub to complain and insist on cancellation. I tend to think it would be better if the passenger who had been in the pub did the complaint, detailing how much was spent on that occasion unless it's insignificant. If they are a regular / fairly regular, then that is relevant as is an estimate of how much may have been spent recently.

The person who parked is the driver, that's it. You don't identify the driver in the appeal, nor here so best to edit your post to conceal their identity.

It'd be nice to get a landowner cancellation ASAP to make this go away. Though current thinking on ECP is that they are not to be feared - see post 5 on this thread:

But do do the appeal to them, then POPLA if necessary and fire off the landowner complaint without hesitation.

If the pub do not get it cancelled complain on their website, Facebook, page, TripAdvisor, et al. Also to your MP.

Complain to your MP. On 18th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these private parking companies. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, and persistent offenders denied access. Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers.

Until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies.

Right, I've got the appeal template copied and pasted ready to send online.
Do I email this to them or do I use their appeals page where they ask for online forms to be filled out?

You must send the appeal using a method that they specify.

I thought post #1 of the NEWBIES thread was clear where it said:
DON'T POST IT BY ROYAL MAIL UNLESS YOU HAVE NO OTHER OPTION ON THE PCN. CERTAINLY NOT BY RECORDED DELIVERY - FORGET THAT! - ALWAYS USE THE ONLINE APPEAL PAGE - OR EMAIL IF OFFERED AS AN OPTION ON THE NOTICE - BECAUSE THE APPEAL CANNOT GET LOST AND YOU CAN KEEP PROOF/ A SCREENSHOT. NO NEED TO USE YOUR REAL SIGNATURE IF YOU HAVE NO OTHER APPEAL OPTION BUT POSTAL...BUT OF COURSE YOU PUT YOUR NAME AND ADDRESS!
    No thinking required.

    Glad to hear it. :)

It never ceases to amaze me that people need telling to complain to landowners about the aggressive conduct of their PCN scammers! Why would people not just march straight in to the pub, shop, or whatever and get it cancelled?

No-one would accept, say the security chap at a pub or shop trying to bully and 'fine' you £100, so why do people not complain immediately about the parking scammer doing the same?

Rhetorical question...and not personal to this thread ...I am just gobsmacked how many times we have to dish out this really simple advice, and that people are being sued every week because they didn't complain in time.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
