Query re new prices as of 1 April

Hi all

My current fixed deal ends mid May, so I am able to start a switch not without incurring any penalties.

My query is if I switch before 1 April onto another fixed deal are those prices guaranteed and if I leave it until 1 April to switch all prices will increase?

The much discussed price increase on the 1st April only is for the Standard Variable Tariff which is subject to a Government price cap. It sets a maximum price per kWh and daily standing charge. Not all companies will increase, but most Standard Variable Tariffs will be increased.

All other tariffs are not subject to the cap so can increase/decrease whenever the company decides.

So you now know what will increase but nobody can tell you what the other tariffs will be tomorrow. Never mind next week. Tariffs can be here today, gone tomorrow.

You are in a Fixed Tariff deal and if this is subject to Early Exit Fees then you may pay these fees if you leave it too early. The fees don't count in the last 49 days of the tariff so you would need to count backwards from your current deals end date to find that date.
