Hi,
I had a default registered with Advantage Finance dated 01/03/2013 after losing my job. I've recently clear all my debts and I managed to make a £1000 partial settlement which they agreed to Nov 18.
I expected the account to drop from my credit file on the 01/03/2019, 6 years after default.
Experian this happened but the account still appears on my Equifax report but without the default showing (box is blank) and shows settled. Equifax have contact Advantage twice and AF have stated the information is correct and are refusing to remove it.
The problem is the account shows a start date of 2010 and 49 payments, so it appears really negative when settlement states 2018 and the account being 8 years old and partially settled!
This is the last response AF sent to Equifax…
"The lender has advised us that a payment of £1000 was made on November 2018 and according to the letter that was sent to you by their Legal Department, this account is now settled but will not be cleared as there was still an active balance last year."
Am I correct that this should be removed from my account after 6 years from default? and are they allowed to remove a default from your credit file whilst leaving the account?
I have sent both Equifax and AF a copy of my Equifax report clearly showing the recorded default and then one after 01/03/2019 which shows the default gone but the account remaining but Equifax state only the lender can amend the report and AF are sticking to the above comment.
It is like I’m banging my head against a wall and I'm starting to wonder if I got this wrong....
Thanks in advance

Make a written complaint to AF. Assuming they will not budge, you would then be able to escalate the complaint to the ICO.I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.
I love my job0 -
What does Experian/Clearscore and Call credit/Noddle show ?0

Experian and Noodle are all clear of the default and account, they dropped off on the default 6 year date.
Its only Equifax that remains0
