    moneyexpert.com versus money"saving"expert.com

Try typing in "money expert" into google, granted this site is 2nd! but still, someone sees a show, doesnt pay much attention (then i suppose people wil lsay they deserve it) and then deal with this company.

Big corporations are involved in this all the time with domain names, so its not an uncommon issue.

Yes I know what you're saying and I think the practice is pretty horrible. But I don't think there's enough proof that they've broken copyright law. Their intention was possibly exactly as you describe but you have to actually have proof rather than just a hunch. Here's the wording from the copyright law that I think is most relevant:

"The work should be substantially similar in design, structure or content, to the degree that it can be said that the work was copied or adapted from your original, rather than simply a similar idea or concept."

I think you'd have a very hard time proving that the words "money" and "expert" used together were a direct copy rather than a similar idea or concept. Which is what you have to prove. They've very commonly used words.

I'd have thought that 'moneysavingexpert' and 'moneyexpert' are too different to be able to complain about.

Did you see Martin's blog about complaints about him using the phrase 'only professional' money saving expert?

  • moneyexpert.com have been trading for many years now and do a similar thing to say moneysupermarket.com and uswitch

The branding is totally different and it is not positioned as affiliated with this site, so whats with the massive over reaction?

How is this in any way "disgusting?"
  • I went to Kwiksave today, I was horrified that they refused to fit me a new exhaust. Then, and only then, did I realise it wasn't "KwikFit" after all.

I was horrified!!! How are they allowed to have a slightly similar name to the well known purveyors of shocks and exhausts?

Below are details of a credit agency, by the looksof it, who are using a similar name to this website and who are maybe getting people looking for geniune help from this site, they type in that address by mistake, and these guys make a profit on this.

I think this should be investigated

Very good research but I think in your argument that makes Martin the one who should be stopped, if moneyexpert has infringed copywrite off moneysavingexpert but moneyexpert was going first does that mean Martin is guilty

Thank you, there's a really odd sense of people trying to somehow ingratiate themselves with Martin so maybe he will be their mate, or something going on here.

    ITS A DISGRACE!!!!!

    WE HAVE TO DEFEND MARTIN!!!

    and so on

But no one has done a wrong against Martin - that site has been running 4 years longer than this one!

    ITS A DISGRACE!!!!! What is?

WE HAVE TO DEFEND MARTIN!!! As Rayday2 has already said, against what?

    and so on

You seem to be infurated about something but it's hard to tell what.
