Vodafone Scam

Today I received a phone call from a Vodafone employee who intentionally attempted to scam me into adding items to my monthly allowance whilst convincing me that my bill would not change.

I was suspicious from this phone call so called Vodafone to confirm that it was actually from a genuine Vodafone employee which was confirmed. They also confirmed that these items had been added to my account, but my bill had also been increased to reflect these changes.

They have agreed to revert the changes to my account and I have requested that they listen back to the call but they refuse to discuss the issue any further with me.

Clearly I would like to know what their findings where and that they agree with me that this was an intentional attempt to mislead me, and likely many more customers, into unknowingly increasing their monthly bill.

Does anyone have any advice on how to take this further with Vodafone, or an external authority if necessary? I am in contract with them until Jan 2020 but clearly do not want to be in a contract with a company that is actively looking to scam their customers.

My immediate questions would be:
Do I have any rights to get out of this contract?
Am I entitled to listen back to the call? (Assuming it was recorded)

Apologies for the large post, I tried to keep as brief as possible but include the vital info!

Thanks

Jacko

    You have no rights.

They problem has been resolved as far as your end is concerned and any discipline against an employee is strictly private and not for you to know.

You have no rights to end the contract as nothing has changed.

You can make a complaint to the relevant ombudsman service about the company.

You can send a SAR (Subject Access Request) for a copy of all information they hold on you, including copies of any phone recordings (or transcripts thereof).
  • I had problems with Vodafone for quite a while and their customer service team was atrocious!
I ended up emailing the CEO and one of his staff (English and extremely helpful....no I'm not racist) eventually said I could leave. I had 2 months left I think and my husband had 7 months on his contract remaining. Cancelled contracts, got money back I was due and got rid of them!

I didn't trust them at all, they took what they wanted for my bill every month, messed me about with how much data I did or didn't have. I ended up threatening them with legal action if they 'stole' from me again.

I'd chase it further if I was you, it wont be until you get your bill that you see if theyve put it right.

What an odd thing to write. Casting no aspersions, I'm genuinely intrigued as to why you've included that point and written it that way?
