I am considering Debenhams Car Insurance

I just used confused.com for a quote on car insurance. Debenhams came up over £100 cheaper than any other. However, due to the recent problems Debenhams is having with profit losses and store closures, and is close to insolvency, how good or bad of an idea is it to take out 12 months of car insurance with them?
I know high street stores and insurance are 2 different things, but if the company as a whole is going to collapse within the next 12 months, I do not want to be lumbered with worthless/invalid car insurance with them.
Any thoughts?

It's a regulated industry sector, so you shouldn't be left hanging completely in the breeze.
That said, you might need to take out a second policy to cover you in the interim as the FSCS isn't there to catch things falling but mop up the mess after.
How much is peace of mind to £100 right now?0 -
Are you sure Debenhams are providing the cover??
It may well be that they have merely sold the use of their name to an insurer or broker and have no real involvement in the insurance business.
But in any case as advised above you won't be left high and dry should they go to the wall0 -
Debenhams retail plc is an appointed representative of Eldon insurance services ltd.0

It means they slap their logo on the car insurance.
The policy is administered and underwritten elsewhere. Debenhams simply get a commission from selling it to you.0 -
Just so you know, Eldon is owned by Aaron Banks...0

I insured with them and now that someone has reversed down a hill where she was parked into me while I was driving.. they are the worst nightmare
48 hours later and knowing I am disabled, they have not provided a courtesy car and even deny I have a right to one and also they insist I will lose 2 years no claims bonus unless I go via another firm AX which is a credit hire company and could cost me a lot of money more than my excess on repairs (which I then have to claim back from Eldon /Debenhams) and yet I have the document showing I bought no claims discount protection..
they claim the drivers legal protection that I bought only is for if someone takes me to court and that in my comprehensive insurance there is no provision at all for my insurance company to pursue an at fault party so if I don't use AX I must pay them my full excess which I wont get back....
very dodgy. FCA assures me these practices are wrong but while I go through complaints and wait 8 weeks for the ombudsman complaint to be allowed, I have no car, no repairs and no one to support me in legal action against the other side
