getting out of a contract ?

Hi there , my son is in a contract with 3 , when he first took it out a year ago he got the Iphone 8plus , he set it all up in a whirl and on looking at his bank statements hes paying £67 a month , he has 4gb of data unlimited mins and texts, this seems alot, I hae the iphone 8 with 8gb of data unlimited mins and texts for £32 a month , hes in contract till april 2020 , is there a way i can cancel the contract and set up another one do you think , even with a cancelation fee i think the montly savings would work out a better deal

  • The 'cancellation fee' would probably amount to the total cost owed although only 3 could give you an accurate figure. Give them a call with your son there as they won't talk to you otherwise.

You're right, £67 a month is an enormous amount to pay for the latest and greatest (which is now old tech).

I've always bought my phone outright (the last one cost £150 which is the most I've ever paid) and am presently paying £4.50 a month to Sky for 2GB of data plus unlimited minutes & texts (goes back up to £6 in 12 months time).

If you can get him out of it (or even just wait the contract out) have a look for SIM only deals.
