I can vouch for and against a cheapo brand telly....

For:
In the last few years, non of our tvs lasted more than 4 or 5 years, regardless of brand.. todays tvs are made cheaply regardless of brand, so no point getting expensive ones.


Against:
Some say that only a few manufacturers make the screen, but that's not always the part that goes wrong. I have had a tv with a good screen getting stuck on standby, which cost a hefty repair bill. So, other components matter too. A top brand may have better components, other than the screen.

If you purchase the extended warranty on the TV, you get longer to take it back. As I just returned my mum's Acoustic Solution pile of **** for a full refund, as she had lines appear down the screen. Purchased it 18/11/06 and returned it 13/11/2007 without extra warranty.

When you go into Argos to return it, just tell them that you have had them come out 3 times to repair the fault and it still remains, you are not happy with it's quality and that it should last longer than the 6 months (if your lucky) it had lasted before the fault first occured.

Everyone's a winner! Even better this time of year as many of the SA's can't be bothered with throughly checking due to receiving so many returns back.

Great speck, Great price, free 3 year warrenty,
pitty it was Dead from the box, phoned argos who now have none in stock to send replacement, so they offered me full refund!
But i explained i wanted TV so their are now sending an engineer on the 22/11/2007 with no garente he will be able to fix fault.
I was offered to choose something else and mabe allowed £50 as a good will gesture from them, but the TV is on sale with £300 off so i could never get anything near that speck for the price.
i still have hope that it will be allright.

PS they are out of stock till Feb and then they will be full price again.
