Could anyone tell me please why my PC runs sooooooooooooooo slowly when I am trying to use MS Office 2007 and the internet at the same time? I'm sure I don;t have a virus....I regularly run ccleaner, spybot, superantispyware and in addition I have AVG antivirus updated and scan run daily and zonealarm...this is driving me mad and making it REALLY hard when the kids need to use the inernet and MSword for homework

What's your OS and how much RAM do you have?"She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

WINXP and 224 MB RAM (I think!)0 -
That's pretty low. You should be thinking of 512 MiB absolute minimum for Windows XP really.
Try the crucial system scanner to see exactly what you've got and what memory type is compatible/how much you can put in etc. http://www.crucial.com/systemscanner/"She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Really? Had this PC about 4 years now and it came with WINXP and the RAM we have....is it easy to increase the RAM? can I do it myself (am a technophobe!)
Thanks for your help0 -
Verify how much RAM you have first...
Right-click My Computer and choose Properties.
The RAM is detailed at the bottom of the "General" tab screen along with the processor and speed.0 -
I edited my above post. Thing is with modern software and XP in it's current state (assuming you've been updating and are now at service pack 2) it's not the same operating system it was four years ago. Installing memory is one of the easiest things you can do inside a PC (it just takes confidence, that's all). Open/take off case of pc (after unplugging obviously) push in memory sticks (unclip and take out any if you need to), clip in place. Put case back on. Job done."She is quite the oddball. I haven't got access to MSO2007, but if it's continued going the same way as previous versions I would suspect it's trying to access the internet as soon as you start it.
Take a look in the settings and see if there's anything obvious.
Try your firewall settings and deny it access.
Update your RAM to the maximum your PC will allow. It really is as easy as superscraper makes out!
Clear down all temp files and cookies. Reboot and run scandisk and defrag.0
