Travel insurance for business trip

Hi,
I'm going abroad for a quick business trip, and wondered whether the usual travel insurance covers such trips or not. I guess the answer will be in the small print, but my partner is booking it for me today whilst I'm working. Ideally I'd like to book the normal joint policy we usually have for holidays, but I just wanted to be sure that the nature of my trip doesn't invalidate the policy.
Many thanks for your help.

Is this your business, or are you an employee? If the latter then I would expect your employer to be insuring your travel.0

Thanks for your reply. I'm a self employed musician, and will be playing in a couple of concerts out there. The organizer asked everyone to provide their own travel insurance.
I suppose what I'm wondering, is whether separate business travel insurance is just for those who wish to pay a premium for an extra layer of insurance, to cover things that would apply to business travel. In other words, is it a non essential requirement?0 -

Although always advisable to take out travel insurance, it is never "essential"!
Read up on the extra cover you can get with business (aka corporate) travel insurance and decide whether you need it or will be happy with normal travel insurance0 -
Thanks. So what I gather is that if I buy normal travel insurance it should be fine. If I need to make a claim, the insurer isn't going to tell me my insurance is unable because the purpose of my trip wasn't leisure?!
Thanks again.0 -
Ask the insurer to be sure0
