Best product for removing limescale from toilet bowl?

I need something strong to remove some tough limescale stains just under the rim of the toilet bowl. I've seen three products in Sainsburys; wondering if anyone here would recommend any of them?

The three products are:

Viakal Limescale Remover Spray

Cillit Bang Power Cleaner Limescale & Grime

Mr Muscle Advanced Power Bathroom Limescale Remover.

Many thanks.

Vinegar and a scrubbing brush would be cheaper and just as effective.

A gel texture will help the product 'cling' to the limescale as it works. Under the rim is an awkward spot to use a spray on.

Having said that, Which? have tested twelve limescale remover sprays. Of these their Best Buy is Cillit Bang Power Cleaner limescale and grime (79% overall score). Which? say

"Simply the best for blitzing limescale, this is the perfect limescale remover if you have hard water and struggle with stubborn deposits. Cillit Bang removes four times more limescale than the worst product we tested, and slightly more than Dettol. Plus it breezes through soap scum on horizontal surfaces and is in the cheaper half of products tested. For best results, be patient and let it work for up to five minutes, as recommended."

Two Viakal products both scored 48%.

    HTH.

  • Kilrock. You can get it as a gel but its more expensive.

Otherwise use the liquid. Block the WC outlet and fill the bowl with water. Works best with hot water, so add two kettles of boiling water to bring up to the rim.

Make sure you have good ventilation. It gives off some pretty strong smells while working.

Put Harpic limescale remover all round the bowl last thing at night. Next morning, give it a little brush & flush.

    Repeat if necessary.

spirits of salt is the best thing, but be very careful with it.

Vinegar-soaked kitchen roll stuck to the area overnight, scrub off in the morning.

I’ve always put that down the loo when I moved home.

Lidl have a gel limescale remover product back again, and at £1.49 it's possibly better value than brand name products.

For below the water line, Harpic Toilet tablets are very good.
