Motability car - proof of entitlement

Hello I am looking to get a mobility car I am disabled and in full receipt of PIP higher rate I don’t have any letters about my entitlement and it states on the motability car website I need to take one to the dealer will I have to wait a month or so by writing to the dwp asking for this or can I go into my local job centre or ring them up and ask them to email it to me or something? Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Are you just throwing your letters away which you should be receiving from the dwp, rates, entitlement etc. You must havehad some in the past

Ring the PIP helpline and ask them to send you a proof of benefit letter. Telephone: 0800 121 4433.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.
  • Will the pip helpline send me proof over tomorrow by email by any chance if you know?
And my mother has past away recently all of my letters have always went to her house as she was my carer and I have no idea where she put them and my dad won’t even let me look

I don’t think they will email them but you can ask.

They don't send anything by email. You will need to ring them to ask for a copy of the PIP award letter. You won't be able to order a motability car without one.

Sorry to hear about your loss. It will be a great loss to your father too.

When will you get a new carer as they should be able to look after this for you - or are you going to do this yourself now?
Unlike some here, I am not omniscient. If I am wrong correct me. I won't take offence.

Ring them, the letter usually comes within a week or so

It won’t delay a Motability car order by much because once the order is placed, unless you’ve ordered something that has already been made for one reason or another, you have to wait for the car to be built and delivered from the factory, in addition to the paper work. Takes a few months usually.

You will have received the annual rates letter within the past couple of months, if you need it urgently that letter probably easiest to find.

I realise this isn't easy if you don't have the equipment but I always buy an all in one printer/scanner. All my DWP letters get scanned so no matter what happens I can call up a copy very easily as they are all stored on my pc.

Do you have a family friend or family member that could intercede for you and ask your father for all your paperwork? I realise this is a very difficult time for all of you.

I hope you be able to find another carer if you need one?

The OP has said that his father won't allow him into the house to look for the letters.

The harder bit is likely to be getting DWP to change where they send communications !
