With the help to buy Scotland scheme being extended to 2021 - what will happen after this date?
Will there be a new govt scheme that will help buyers get that property they want?
Thanks in advance.

Help to Buy has got nothing to do with buyers.
It is to do with selling houses that have been built. Most people think that not enough houses are being built.
So along comes a builder and builds a whole new estate of houses. If he can't get someone to buy his little boxes he can't build another estate and a new estate will consist of a lot of empty properties. Which does nothing towards building more houses.
Help to Buy is a way of getting people to buy new houses in order to increase the housing supply. If this wasn't the case it would apply to all houses not just new ones.
Do you want to be one of the people who buys a new house in order to increase housing supply or would you rather buy an older cheaper house?0 -
To be honest I don’t have a preference between new or old and wasn’t the driver in me asking the question.
I simply asked the question because although help to buy allows you to put 5% deposit down and get 15% additional from the government, it only applies to new homes up to £200k. If I’m looking at a £300k house, it doesn’t really help me.0 -
you will need a magic ball. i don't think politicians know what will happen tomorrow yet never mind 2021An answer isn't spam just because you don't like it......0
