Noticeable difference as in ones grey ones black or they are the correct colours but at different end of the shade scale but the correct colour.

You can most likely get a refund, you can't force them to make the same sofas again in the correct colour if they don't make them anymore.

If Harveys don't make the sofas any more, could the sofas be reupholstered in the correct colours as the OP originally ordered?

Possibly, but the question is would Harvey's do this or would it be easier for them to just refund the buyer? I don't honestly know which would cost them less but they'd likely just do whatever would be the cheaper option. Worth an ask though!

They are sending out an "independent" specialist, whom they pay, to give a verdict on this. If this person says it's due to the way the fabric is brushed, Harvey's will do nothing for us.
The answer is simple - ask the "specialist" to brush the fabrics to make both sofas look the same. If he/she can't then it's a slam-dunk. :)
  • Harvey's are disputing this, claiming that it is the way the fabric is brushed. Actually, you can't brush the fabric, it makes no difference to the appearance of the colour. They are sending out an "independent" specialist, whom they pay, to give a verdict on this. If this person says it's due to the way the fabric is brushed, Harvey's will do nothing for us.

Wait for their technician to inspect it, see what they say. If they produce a report stating that it's the nap of the fabric, you can get your own specialist in. You can use any qualified upholsterer, or an independent company that specialises in inspections/reports like this - just make sure that you're not using the same company as harvey's. Cost should be about £100 inc VAT. Once you have a report stating that it's a different colour, you can take this to Harvey's and insist they deal with the problem - they may offer a partial refund, or an exchange. I do not expect they will offer to reupholster the sofa for you, Harvey's do not make their own furniture so it's likely that would cost them more than a replacement.
Well informed on the subjects of sofas and wood furniture, and well opinionated on everything else :rotfl:
