O/S Daily Sunday 24th March 2019

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Good morning all

Woke at silly o'clock couldn't get back to sleep.

I have woken with a large bruise on my knee, no idea how I got it, can't remember knocking myself.

Look bright this morning so might go out for a walk at some point, nothing much planned, life is so exciting :D

Special thoughts with all those finding life difficult at the moment.

  • Morning folks and thanks SILVER OLDIE. These bruises are catching! Just as I thought I was sleeping a bit better a rubbish night hit me last night. I could neither get to sleep nor stay asleep. I spent half the night reading.

A nippy start here but the sun is now peeping over the hills. I might even venture out this morning to dispose of the weeds that have dared to appear since my last onslaught on the garden.

I enjoyed my little bus trip along the valley yesterday. It was nice to look in a few different shops for a change. Quite a few things I wanted from H & B were in their half price sale, including their Chai & Liquorice tea bags, so I got stocked up as I won't pay the full price for them.

I have just got the last of the sliced beef in gravy out of the freezer for my lunch. That, with assorted veg and the remains of the Cauli cheese I had last night, will do me nicely.

Have a good day folks whatever you are up to. ((HUGS)) as always for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. Take care all xx

had an early night last night as I was feeling tired after my busy day ,and wouldn't you know it although feeling completely worn out I was still wide awake two hours later ,yet I bet if I sat downstairs with the TV on I would be asleep in seconds :)

Eventually dropped off, but am up bright and early though. Its my DGGD tea party this afternoon and tonight I will be driving DGS Jack back to Hertfordshire. So its going to be a long day.

I made a big batch of sausage rolls as my contribution to this afternoons festivites plus a box for Jack to take back with him.

This morning I am going to take it a bit easy and rest up a bit (tv and zzzzzzing with luck )
Weather seems quite mild, and everywhere blossom is bursting out on the trees and the garden has sprung into life at last.

Hope everyone has a good day what ever you are doing

    Cheers chums

    Morning everyone

SO - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one, also those who are poorly or looking after a poorly person x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

DH and myself enjoying first peaceful cuppas - him whilst watching catchup tv and myself whilst on here. DS1 still in his pit, not heard any movement as yet - but it's early. DS2 still seems settled and doing ok.

Dinner last night was HM frittata (it had smoked sausage, mushrooms, courgettes etc in it) with HM veg rice and roasted peppers, none left. I have a small pork joint - not sure what I'm doing with it yet, as we're supposed to be having a drive out to look at an antiques store, it's not too far away so may be a late lunch.

Yesterday work was either quiet or manic, as always busy as we were getting ready to close! We visited the parents for a while in the afternoon.

    Keep safe and well x

Up early for me at the weekend as I am working today :( don't want to go but it only seems to be one day once in a while atm so not too bad.

OH is chief cook and bottle washer today so will cook dinner not sure what he will cook but the fridge is full so plenty of choice.

All washing done outside yesterday with just a quick turn in the TD it just needs putting away now.

We have booked a holiday to Greece in Sept for 11 nights all inclusive, I have never been all inc before so we thought we would try it, it should save us a fair bit of money, we are going to the tiny island we went to last year and fell in love with its very small and very quiet with a few tavernas etc, its a nature lovers paradise, I cant wait.

Right better get ready for work have good days all xxx

    Morning everyone.

After a beautiful day yesterday rain and wind have been battering down all night. It's still wild outside, the joy of being on the coast. Nevertheless I am enjoying my own wee place for this short time.

I'll be heading back down to Glasgow later on. I've cleared out the fridge, done the washing ad emptied the dishwasher.

I hope that all are doing well, getting better or coping! Happy Sunday.

    Morning All

    Your holiday sounds perfect RR.

Raining again this morning. Yesterday's washing was nearly dry outside until we had a really heavy shower, a short while in the TD got it dry and put away, the bedding went back on the bed!

The big bed went from the spare room yesterday so I cleared everything else (apart from the wardrobe) out and set to painting. Another coat today, when I've been for another can of paint, and that should be it done. Just the little bed to finish. I was exhausted by the end of it, went to a party but only managed until just after 9!

Hope you've had a restful night in your own home Gers.
    Hugs to the poorlies.

    Take care. XX

I slept well last night after yesterday's march. We didn't walk that far but there was a lot of standing around which I find more tiring than walking.

Gers and Gintot, I'm glad your poorlies are progressing well.

DP1, great news about the baby, how long do they think she will need the oxygen?

Dumpling, how is Lee doing now?

Steve is going to play golf with Chris this morning and then we are going up to Yorkshire for a few days before he starts his third round of chemo. I want to get the bedding washed before we go so that we come back to clean sheets.

I also need to plan the meals for the next few days and get things out of the freezer to take with us. It's a lovely day here so I hope it's as nice up north.

Good morning all - it's brilliant sunshine here, and seems a bit breezy. Yesterday was a nice day as well cool though.

RR a holiday in Greece, sound lovely. Bet you can't wait.

Gers, hope that Mum is still improving.

SO, you're another one with mystery injuries, strange isn't it

Hope you enjoy your family day Jackie, and the sausage roll fest.

TA, yes, it's nice to look in different shops , i had been thinking on similar lines - bus along the main road to another little town and look in their shops for a change

We are going over to the caravan today, we'll start tidying as bit. Also we'll pay the annual storage fee, ouch. We've booked a few days in N Yorks in a couple of weeks time, we're looking forward to it.

This sleep business, I should have slept for hours, but no. Difficulty getting off to sleep, then waking. Finally I slept and didn't wake till 7.30. I think it is better to give in , get up and read or watch tv, it's so boring lying there then you start worrying, and so on....

Anyway, hope everyone has as good a day as they can

    Take care folks
