We had butternut squash for dinner a couple of nights ago, and as I was scraping the seeds out, I thought I'd try roasting them with some seasoning........ They were delicious...... and to think I used to throw them away!!!
do you wash the seeds to get the 'gunk' off them or just roast them 'wet'
thanks

re sunflower seeds, a quicker version I do is just to spread them on a baking sheet, sprinkle them with a little salt and bung them under the grill for a couple of mins. Make sure they don't burn!0

 Aaah, so sorry..... have chastised myself profusely for forgetting to check thread!
Most of them weren't too gunky, but I did wash them, it didn't really come off, so just left them on a bit of kitchen roll until I put the oven on.
To get the shells off, you just bite the top of the seed sideways to split the shell, opens easily. Although after a few, a tried one with shell on, which tasted just as nice........ so ate the rest of them with out taking them out.0
