Nationwide Smart 2 Save

I've come across a savings book which was my sons with me as the parent. I have a full used book and one entry in a new book. When the entry went in the new book he was already 17.
I can't remember if was ever given the money
I don't want to ask him as if I find out the money is still there, I would love to just present him with it!
I have never received anything in recent years from the Nationwide regarding the account.
I can't get into a branch until a week on Monday. I'm itching to know if the money is still there or if at sometime I have passed it on to him but then the book would have been cancelled surely?
Does anyone have any idea if he could have had access to the money in some way without the book or would the Nationwide have been in touch Yearly with the interest made and the current interest rate?

I take it that neither passbook shows a withdrawal?
It seems that you'll need to go into branch.

Yes I thought I would have to go into a branch, I'm just a wee bit impatient and wondered if anyone might have known
Thankfully it's not been 15yrs, he is only 24!
My husband and I both have ISA account books too but apparently they were moved to online ISAs years ago. We kind of suspect we have done the same with this one but wouldn't have expected to it have been possible without calling in to the branch? I really can't remember!0
