Laying a new patio

Options
Hi, I’m mid garden reno at the moment. We’ve dug up a huge amount of concrete using a breaker but is it possible to use the old hardcore from underneath it, by just topping it up in the gaps left from the broken concrete and compacting it then using the paving sand and slabs as normal? First garden renovation we’ve ever done!
Tia :)

A better place for this would be 'In my Home,' as it's not gardening.

The answer is probably that it depends on the thickness of the existing hardcore and the nature of the sub soil.

However, this web site is probably better than umpteen biased opinions based on few facts: http://www.pavingexpert.com/
