Ash & soot from fire on car

My new car is covered in ash and soot from the neighbours garden fire. Its completely coated! Of course, I'll have to go have words.. but I was wondering if the ash will have damaged the paintwork. The fire was only a few feet away. I've taken some photos and am going head out thre now and give it a good wash (or maybe I should leave it on to show the neighbours - but I don't really want to leave it covered in this ash anymore). Any advice?

thanks

It's possible it can damage the paint if it's left but a quick go over with T-Cut should sort it. You're already going to have words so there's no point telling you to do that. Just try to be diplomatic - it usually gets better results than going in both barrels blazing.
